The Safe & Secure Project partners with firearm owners, retailers, and carrying professionals to support their efforts to protect the people they care about and the firearm community. It encourages owners to take voluntary action to keep family, friends, and community safe by storing firearms securely.
By securing firearms, we can:
- prevent unsafe use
- prevent unauthorized access
- reduce injuries and deaths from unintentional and intentional discharges
Members of the firearm community are also encouraged to help others by:
- learning how to recognize when fellow owners are at risk
- being comfortable with and willing to talk about stress and difficult topics, like suicide
- discussing options and helping plan for secure storage in times of transition and/or distress
