Survivors of Suicide Loss

Suicide Loss is Different
“The term, ‘Survivor of Suicide Loss,’ refers to anyone whose life has been affected by a suicide loss. Some survivors may have experienced the loss of a spouse, child, parent, or other close relative. Others may have lost a friend, coworker, or acquaintance.”

~ Support for Survivors of Suicide Loss, Georgia DBHDD

The loss of a loved one, friend, coworker, or acquaintance is unlike any other loss we experience. When suicide takes someone we know, it forever changes our lives. It is often shocking, painful, and unexpected, and it can leave us with lots of questions and difficult emotions. The grief that follows can also be intense, complex, and long term.

The process of working through grief after suicide loss, or grief work, is personal and unique; each person will experience it in their own way and at their own pace. It can be challenging, but there are resources that can help survivors navigate the grieving process and make the journey less lonely.

Resources for Survivors of Suicide Loss
